EXCLUSIVE

Joining us on this episode of our series is business & racing royalty, Matt Allen AM - Former Managing Director of UBS Japan & revered yachtsman, having competed in an extraordinary thirty Sydney to Hobart yacht races for a return of three victories on overall handicap.

In a diverse corporate career that extends over four decades, Matt initially worked in Australia throughout the 1980's and early 1990's managing teams trading public sector debt, fixed-income & foreign exchange products, before becoming involved in building propriety trading systems.

In 1997, alongside his partners, he sold a 50% stake in his trading system company to Swiss Bank Corporation, a condition of the deal in which required Senior Management of SBC to move to Asia - Matt re-located to Japan the same year and became principally involved in the three-way merger between SBC, UBS & LTCB Securities.

Matt was later appointed Regional Chief Executive & President of UBS AG Japan until his return to Australia, wherein following a lifelong involvement in ocean racing, he became involved in the sport through Board & Member roles with the CYCA, Australian Olympic Committee, World Sailing Committee, Australia Day Regatta & the Royal Ocean Racing Club to name a few.

He currently serves on the advisory board of a number of businesses including Approach Solutions & Growing Teams.

Our discussion explores Matt's career, his key lessons & achievements, his perspectives on the current business & economic environment and of course his expectations for the 2021 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
